Savage Recipes ("we", "us") operates savage.recipes, a personal collection of recipes. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Account information (only if you sign in)

You can browse and read recipes without an account. If you choose to sign in to leave a comment, we use Google or Facebook to sign you in. When you do, we receive and store your name, email address, and profile picture from that provider, along with an internal account identifier.

Comments

If you submit a comment, we store its text, the date it was posted, and a link to your account. New comments are held for review and are not shown publicly until an administrator approves them.

Server logs

Like most websites, our web server automatically logs basic technical information for every request (such as IP address, browser user agent, and timestamps) for security and troubleshooting purposes. We do not use this data for advertising or tracking.

Cookies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in (one for visitor logins, and a separate one for site administrators). We do not use advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking cookies.

How we use your information

To let you sign in and stay signed in across visits.
To display your name and profile picture alongside comments you've posted.
To review and moderate comments before they're published, and to prevent spam/abuse.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Third-party services

We rely on a small number of third-party services to operate the site:

Google Sign-In and Facebook Login — used only if you choose to sign in with one of these providers. Their use of your information is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and Facebook's Privacy Policy, respectively.
Anthropic (Claude)— we use Anthropic's API to generate recipe-pairing suggestions ("Goes Great With"). Only recipe content (titles, categories, descriptions) is sent for this purpose — never your account information or comments.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your account information and comments for as long as your account exists. You can request that we delete your account and associated comments at any time by emailing us at admin@savage.recipes. We'll process deletion requests within a reasonable time. See our Data Deletion Instructions for details.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@savage.recipes.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
